Mama Kitty

8 x 8 in, oil on linen canvas

Mama Kitty is a feral cat who lives in a crate (equipped with a heated blanket) by our front porch. She loves to accompany us on our daily dog walks. After having a few litters and eluding our numerous attempts to catch her, she finally gave in and we were able to have her spayed. I think she's grateful and leaves mouse tokens on our sidewalk every so often. By the looks of her girth, it appears she's already enjoyed a Thanksgiving feast!

Oscar

8 x 8 in, oil on linen canvas

Oscar was a former wild kitty roaming the countryside with his siblings. He's now a laid back lap cat who sits with me every morning while I'm on the computer. He's a big fan of keyboard cat.

One Spooky Night

14 x 11 in, oil on linen canvas

One night while my daughter and I were walking home in San Francisco, we came upon this mysterious scene. Fog, a full moon and a shadowy silhouette at the window.

This painting was done from a photograph taken by my daughter. These two ladies are looking very stylish and relaxed as they enjoy some quality time together.

Betsy in Repose

8 x 8 in, oil on canvas

Seeing a cow in a pasture is becoming a rare sight around here. Sad but true. Betsy here is enjoying a little snooze in the sun.

Cozy Kitty

8 x 8 in, oil on canvas

Why is it that sleeping cats always look so warm and comfy? I saw this guy curled up in a basket in a store in California. He looks quite content.

Truman

8 x 8, oil on stretched canvas

Our barn cat Tiger had a friend we named Truman after Truman Capote. This cat was intelligent and sensitive. We think he was a writer in one of his former nine lives.

Tiger

6 x 6, oil on gessoboard

When I was a teenager, I desperately wanted a cat for a pet. So when a little tiger-striped cat moved into our new barn, I was thrilled. She knew how to catch mice and stay clear of horses' hooves.

Happy To Meet Ya!

We met this happy soul at the Iowa State Fair. Maybe he was dreaming about the fried butter!

Victorian Lady

I just returned from visiting my daughter in San Francisco where I enjoyed just walking around taking in all the beautiful architecture. These Victorian ladies look so tall and proud!

Backyard Peaches

8 x 10, oil on canvas

I love peaches! We planted a peach tree in the back yard and are hoping for our first juicy crop. Right now they resemble fuzzy grapes. For now we'll be satisfied with store bought peaches that are sitting in our bowl in the kitchen.

Yellow Rose

12 x 12, oil on canvas

This is my first entry into the world of daily painting! Doing a close-up of a rose and getting everything lined up kind of reminds me of capturing the features in a portrait painting. Except the rose doesn’t mind if it’s nose, I mean petals are too big.
This is painted on a 1½” deep gallery-wrapped canvas.
